Financial Assistant
Job Summary
We are looking for a well-organized Financial Assistant to support our day-to-day transactions,
including the expenses of our Section 8 program. The main responsibilities of the financial
assistant are to receive, process and verify invoices, be proficient in reconciling accounts and
ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors. Skilled in resolving discrepancies,
communicating with vendors and office staff. Report and assist the Finance Director on all
necessary job assignments.
Job Requirements:
Associate degree in Accounting or B.S. in Accounting with at least 2-5 years of
experience in accounts payable or governmental accounting
Excel Skills
Effective communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.
Fast learner with strong organizational skills, analytical and decision-making skills
Excellent people skills and an ability to work effectively with others at all levels.
Proven ability to meet challenges, goals and objectives with enthusiasm, drive, and
initiative.
Exceptional attention to detail
Ability to oversee sensitive, confidential information.
Experience handling financial statement audits.
Knowledge of ERP Central Pro software but not mandatory
Job Responsibilities:
Pays invoices by verifying transaction information, preparing disbursements, and
obtaining authorization of payment.
Processing reimbursement forms
Prepare 1099’s at year end.
Reconcile credit card statements.
Maintains financial historical records by filing accounting documents.
Create and update expense reports.
Assist with counting cash and approving deposits.
Maintain digital and physical financial records.
Create reports in Excel and Word

The City of Donaldsonville's annual Mardi Gras parade rolled Sunday, Jan. 4, 2026.
The route began at the South Louisiana Fairgrounds along Church Street, traveled right on Marchand Drive and then went right down Railroad Avenue.
The grand marshal was Quintin D. Taylor, the chancellor of River Parishes Community College in Gonzales.
The king was Chul “Charles” Soon Jang, who serves as the president of Hyundai Steel Louisiana.
The queen was LaTonya Sullivan-Prejean, who is a law enforcement professional and military veteran with more than 18 years of service to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office.
New this year for the parade was the addition of maids. Each member is a high school junior or senior.
They included:
- Maid LaQuana T’Miah Sullivan is a senior at Donaldsonville High.
- Maid Georgia Ann Vega is a senior at Ascension Catholic High.
- Maid Taylor Nicole North is a senior at Lutcher High.
- Maid Jamiya Stevenson is a junior at Donaldsonville High.
- Maid Allayana Carter is a senior at Donaldsonville High.
- Maid Jelani Johnson is a senior at Donaldsonville High.
- Maid Keianna Marie Nailer is a senior at Donaldsonville High.
- Maid Lael Kylin Judson is a junior at Dunham School.
The committee included Mayor Leroy Sullivan, Tamiko Francis Garrison (chair), Jeffery Henry, Steven Joseph, Kee Kee Julien-Judson, Tyrone Madison Jr. and Juanita Pearley.
Volunteers were ASAP Riders, Donaldsonville Lions Club, Desiree Sanders, and Ira Garrison.
The City of Donaldsonville and CF Industries were presenting sponsors. The purple sponsor was CareSouth, while the gold sponsor was McKim and Creed.
