9th-12th Graders in Ascension and St. James Parishes are encouraged to participate in a STEM summer camp to explore the concepts of carbon capture and storage, and ways to improve the environment from June 26-30. ExxonMobil Pipeline is partnering with Southern University and Rice University to host a Carbon Dioxide (CO2) STEM Camp as part of the Summer Institute through the Southern University College of Sciences and Engineering and Carbon Dioxide STEM Week. ExxonMobil Pipeline Company is proud to support Southern University’s STEM initiatives through the Summer Institute by sponsoring the fourth and final week of the program. The Tapia STEM camp team from Rice University in Houston, Texas, will be visiting SU’s campus to explain carbon dioxide – not just what it is, but how it needs to be part of the climate change solution and the resulting impact on Louisiana.

You don’t have to attend the entire four-week SU Summer Institute to learn more about CO2. Southern is offering space for an additional 20 students to apply for just CO2 week (the week of June 26) on behalf of ExxonMobil Pipeline Company.

Transportation will be provided from local area high schools to Southern University for the camp. You will need to submit a 250-word response to the question, “Why do you want to attend?” with your application. You can register on the City’s website or donaldsonville, la facebook page.
