Greetings citizens and friends from surrounding areas:

First of all, I am excited to announce that Prevost Hospital and the community around it on Highway 308 are up and running.  After some initial complications, I talked with Entergy, along with Senator Ed Price, Representative Ken Brass and Parish President Clint Cointment, and was assured that the problems with the hospital circuit have been fixed and if by chance it goes down again it is only for a short time and is necessary to add more customers.  Also, I have been assured that continuing this morning there will be an increased number of trucks, equipment and linemen in the Donaldsonville area.

Today is Labor Day and that is exactly what it will be…a number of people volunteering their time to help our community, and like I and numerous others are doing, we encourage you to volunteer in your own community to help those that are less fortunate.  You are also welcome to join us at the Pavilion as we can always use the help to support our citizens and surrounding community as we have been doing since the storm severely damaged our area.

The Louisiana National Guard has announced they will extend the distribution of  water, ice, and tarps at the Frank Sotile Jr. Pavilion today, Monday, September 6 from 8am to 4pm.  They are being assisted by the generosity of the men and women of the Oklahoma National Guard 45th IBCT.

Also today, Monday, September 6, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and the Ascension Parish Government will be providing water and boxes of non-perishable food at the same site.

Volunteers will begin distributing at 11:00 am on a first come-first served basis, while supplies last. Please use the same line up instructions as all other events.

Additionally the Red Cross will provide FREE CLEAN PACKS TO THE first 100 people to the Pavilion!

We will continue to see improving conditions and are working on post recovery steps! Please go to our website at Donaldsonville-la.gov and get more information on how to register for FEMA assistance for individual and small business recovery resources.

While there have been some disappointing things being said and posted because of everyone’s frustration, we continue to pray for you and your families and know that we will get through this together. I’ve seen many of you at our distribution site all week, so please come by and see us there!

We are blessed to be surrounded by numerous volunteers and generous partners from federal, state, parish and local public and non profit organizations and municipalities most of which have come here to help us.

If you want to come by and say hello or share your needs, I’ll greet you at your car or you can get me by phone or through my staff.

Thanks for your patience. DONALDSONVILLE will get through this and be better for the next challenge we face.

With Father God’s Blessings,
Leroy J. Sullivan, Sr.
