Good morning!

Yesterday continued to show the resilience and generosity of the DONALDSONVILLE citizens. There were over 1000 donations given, and it continues this morning at the Pavilion. There are additional activities coming up.

Today, the distribution site is now operational in Donaldonville!  From 8am until supplies last at the Pavilion, residents will receive tarps, water, and ice. Please enter through Clay Street. The line may extend into the ball park fields. We appreciate your patience.

Today is our last day. I want to give a heartfelt thank you to the Louisiana National Guard, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Ascension Parish office of Emergency Preparedness and Homeland Security staff for their tireless efforts throughout this process and they continue to work to assist us with all of our recovery needs.

Also please go in now and pre-register for FEMA assistance, and if you need assistance with a damaged roof, please contact the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Operation Blue Roof to cover damaged roofs in Ascension Parish. Visit blueroof.us or call 1-888-766-3258.

All of the assistance information for individuals as well as businesses is located on the City website at Donaldsonville-la.gov.

Tomorrow, Monday, September 6, the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank and the Ascension Parish Government will be providing food in Donaldsonville by donating 1500 cases of water and 1500 boxes of non-perishable food at the Frank Sotile, Jr. Pavilion on Thibaut Drive. Volunteers will begin distributing at 11:00 am on a first come-first served basis, while supplies last. Please use the same line up instructions as all other events.

During our daily briefing with Entergy, we continue to be given information on plans to restore power. Power should continue to be restored today.

Again, you may see a home near you with power and you may not yet be on, so be aware that power is fed from different grids. We continue to meet with Entergy to get updates. As we get news, we can actually confirm, we will communicate it.

Please continue to be kind to these linemen. Again this is no easy task and your prayers and patience is appreciated.

I pray that we continue to work together and ask God to restore and recover our community!
