Reginald 'Duck' Brown honored for 50 years in recreation in Donaldsonville

Donaldsonville, Louisiana

A local coach has been recognized for his contributions to the community over 50 years by being honored at the Reginald "Duck" Brown invitational youth basketball tournament Jan. 26-28 at the Lemann Memorial Center in Donaldsonville.

Brown joined Donaldsonville Mayor Leroy Sullivan to talk about his experiences over the decades during the Making Progress Facebook and radio broadcast in the week leading up to the event.

"It's an honor," Brown said. "It's really and truly an honor. To you, Mr. mayor, I'd like to say thank you for recognizing not just me but everyone I've been involved with over the years."

Brown plans to continue coaching to add to his years of fond memories by instilling values such as teamwork and discipline.

"You can't solve everything, but you can be a part of the solution," Brown said. "The reason I told the mayor I was going back to coaching was because I want to be part of the solution."
