The State of Louisiana has created a Hurricane Recovery page to provide information regarding the state.

FEMA Disaster Assistance

Louisiana disaster survivors are urged to register for federal disaster assistance with FEMA. Individuals and business owners in the designated parishes who had storm or flood damage should register for “Individual Assistance” with FEMA in the following ways:  

  • Online at www.disasterassistance.gov 
  • By phone at 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) 
  • People who have a speech disability or hearing loss and use TTY should call 1-800-462-7585 
  • For those who use 711 or Video Relay Service (VRS), call 1-800-621-3362 

FEMA Disaster Recovery Center in Donaldsonville

The Ascension Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness and Homeland Security has opened a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC), at the Lemann Memorial Center at 1100 Clay Street in Donaldsonville. The center will open Wednesday, September 29 (Monday through Sunday from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm).

The center assists residents who need help with various FEMA forms and applications. It also offers information on the types and sources of assistance available. Anyone who has not already registered for disaster assistance through FEMA can register at the Lemann Center or visit if have questions or concerns about a FEMA claim. Those who have already registered with FEMA, will not need to go to the DRC unless you have questions or need additional assistance with your application.

An appointment is not necessary. Additionally, the FEMA Helpline can be reached daily at 1-800-621-3362 (711 or VRS available).
